Who I am

I am Betsy Kimmel, an ICF-credentialed coach and yoga teacher based in Tokyo, Japan. I run betsykimmel.com and I am responsible for the personal information collected through it. You can reach me at betsy@betsykimmel.com.

What I collect

What you give me.

  • When you book a Chemistry Session: your name, email address, the time you choose, and anything you add in the notes. Booking runs through Microsoft Bookings.
  • When you sign up for my newsletter or a download such as The Mission Reset: your name and email address. These are handled through Kit.
  • When you use a contact form: your name, email address, and your message.
  • When you leave a comment on a post: your name, email address, website (if you add one), and your comment.

What is collected automatically. When you visit the site, basic information is recorded, such as the pages you view, the date and time, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. This helps me understand which content is useful. I use Burst Statistics in cookieless mode, which does not set cookies and uses an anonymous identifier that changes daily.

Coaching clients. If we work together, I collect what is needed to coach you, such as contact details, scheduling, and session notes. Coaching conversations are confidential and handled under a separate coaching agreement and the ICF Code of Ethics.

How I use it

  • To respond to your messages and book and run sessions
  • To send you the newsletter or downloads you asked for
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it
  • To keep the site secure and working
  • To meet legal or accounting obligations

I do not sell your personal information.

Why I am allowed to use it (for visitors in the EU and UK)

  • Your consent, for the newsletter and for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • A contract or steps before one, when you book or work with me.
  • My legitimate interest, in running and securing the site and understanding how it is used.
  • Legal obligations, where the law requires me to keep records.

Who else handles your information

I use trusted services to run the site and my business. They process information on my behalf:

  • Microsoft (Bookings and Outlook) for scheduling and email
  • Kit for my newsletter and downloads
  • SiteGround for website hosting
  • Burst Statistics for site analytics
  • Meta (Instagram) for the Instagram feed shown on the site

These providers may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, I rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

How long I keep it

  • Newsletter details until you unsubscribe
  • Booking and contact messages for as long as needed to respond and keep reasonable business records
  • Client records for as long as needed under my coaching agreement and legal requirements
  • Comments until you ask me to remove them

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, Japan, or California), you may have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it, object to certain uses, withdraw consent, and receive a copy. To make a request, email me at betsy@betsykimmel.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email.

If you are in the EU or UK and are not satisfied with my response, you can contact your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is meant for adults. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information. No online service is perfectly secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
