Betsy Kimmel, ICF Coach & E-RYT 500 Yoga Teacher
I’m based in Tokyo and work with people worldwide. For over eight years, I lived and worked alongside humanitarians in the field.
I partner with people who hold everyone else together, pairing professional coaching with functional movement, the grounded practices that keep capable people steady through demanding work.

My Story
For eight years, I lived and worked alongside humanitarians in Bangladesh, through the stress, the burnout, the breakdowns, and the slow realization that the people holding everyone together usually have no one holding them.
I didn’t watch it from a distance. I lived it. And when I finally left the field, it took me close to nine months to feel like myself again. That’s not a detail I share for sympathy — it’s why I understand, from the inside, what this work costs and what it actually takes to recover.
My diverse background, from HR to functional movement, fuels a uniquely practical approach. I have coaching and well-being experience across private and public sectors, including organizations such as King & Spalding and the World Food Programme.
That mix means I understand what it actually costs to work in high-stakes environments, and what real practice support looks like when the pressure is on.

My Why
I’ve spent years inside organizations watching capable people break themselves trying to do good work. The problem was never effort. It was the absence of practices that make sustained effort possible.
So I trained! First as a yoga teacher, completing my E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance, and then I trained as a coach with the International Coaching Federation.
That’s why I work the way I do: forward-focused coaching, paired with functional movement, and maybe a bit of yoga! Practices that I believe build attention, regulation, and steadiness that good work actually requires. No vague advice. No buzzwords.
